ENERGY 2006 - our faci experience

Drazí / dear all,

after 10 amazing days spent in Siauliai, Lithuania at ENERGY 2006 conference, it is time for two Czech girls to reflect their faci experience. What was the conference all about? 3 days, 250 delegates, 19 facis from 10 countries. These are the facts. Things that we experienced there are hard to be explained as there were touchy moments, too.

The conference took place in one basic school, in the most dangerous place of the city, that meant we had a security guard during the whole stay at the school! Unbelievable, isn’t it?!

Delegates slept divided by LCs in one school room in sleeping bags, we all had meals together and gathered during morning and evening plenaries in the plenary room. Sessions were divided into several tracks (we both were responsible for eXchange track), on Sunday there were some companies representatives, as well. Parties („Pimp my party“ and Global village) were delivered in Baltics’ way, there was even party chair!

We met at ENERGY our old friends (Zuzka and Lucka from LC Zlin, now studying in Riga).
Jarda, CEE GN director (ex Czech MCP), who came to Lithuania for a week long Balticsvisit spent some time chatting with us and supported the Czech spirit at ENERGY 2006.. The last, but not least one who needs to be definitly mentioned is Derek Small with his motivation speech, when new recruited members were empowered to start their real AIESEC life.

With Petra and Indre we were responsible for gossip box, we had our gossip team dance and were tooo hot :-)

Regarding facis, we were in 19 people such a wonderful team, and that means a real TEAM! At faci-premeeting that was for 2,5 days before ENERGY, we got to know each other, during the conference we managed to have faci meetings each morning before morning plenary and at night, even at midnight!! We slept in one room altogether and had intensive teambuilding during all the 10 days. Kadi, Siim, Ercan, Tiger, Indre, Ira, Slavik, Ilma, Irena, René, Ümit, Diana, Chris, Nata, Kristine, Vilmars and Herdis, hopewe will make out the faci reunion during New Year’s Eve in Prague this year!

Lithuanian adventure continues

Yooo smažky,

so the life of two Czech facis at ENERGY 2006 conference in Lithuania
is going on.
Since last two days we have been working on preparation for sessions
(session outlines, materials, etc.)

The fact is, of 19 people working at faci premeeting, 16 of them is
using her/his laptops, everybody is somehow involved
at the conference added stuff, too (eg. punishment commando,
conference video, gossip team - guess who is doing that? ;-), etc.)

We are paying lots of attention with Petra during the premeeting
agenda to the content that will be delivered. This year, this Baltics
conference is gonna roll the CEE! It is being a big learning to be
here for international conference as faci, so it means filling in our
faci learning log to be aware of these things.

Moving to the conference that starts in 20 hours, the exciting time is
coming pretty sooon.
Stay tuned for more information.

LC Day in KPMG

On Tuesday 24th October, we didn’t have an ordinary LC meeting – it was the LC Day and it took place (already for the 3rd time) in the seat of KPMG in Prague.

We started at 15:00 with Big Picture. It was 2-hour long session dedicated for newly recruited Outgoing Members delivered by Martin. Our Outgoers got to know some basic info about AIESEC as well as went through the preparation for upcoming conference FEEL.

At 17:30 the newies, TLs, experienced members and trainees arrived to participate in teambuilding, which was prepared by Roman and OC of Screening. Last 90 minutes, everyone spent in their teams or attended training on Risk management (by Doban).

At the end, we all went to La Fabrique to party a bit :-)
It was really great event, I hope you enjoyed it...

Greetings from Lithuania

Hey AIESEC Praha,

sending you greetings from Lithuania. We're going to Siauliai to facilitate Baltic conference for 250 delegates called Energy.

After spending 20 hours in a bus watching Russian movies we finally arrived to Vilnius. Two getlemen were waiting there to pick up us and we went together for sightseeing. As you see in the pictures, "jsme fakt pozérky":-) In the evening we went for pizza and then we had 3 hour long teambuilding in a car going to Siauliai with 3 more people and a plenty of our bags, arriving at 1 o'clock at night. All the time, we're hacking free wireless that's almost everywhere - airport, shops, dorms...Now we're slowly getting ready for the premeeting and getting to know the faci team. We'll keep you updated...:-) Petra & Hana

Assessment Centre

For ages, the Assessment Centre has been traditional part of SN selections. This time it was even more interesting, just read below… ;-)

70 students were divided into 5 groups by 14 and experienced many interesting tasks during the whole day – individual work and presentations, group discussions and projects, writing part as well as role play…

What about the observers? 5 Chairs & 10 externals from partner companies (Tesco, Monster Technologies, Ernst & Young, Danone and PwC) & 5 returnees & 10 AIESECers cooperated very well.

…and of course our lovely OC comprising of newies! Helca and her team (Katka, Klara, Martin, Terka) did really cool job: all the materials including badges were ready, refreshments were delicious, coffee hot and pizza tasty.. and on time! :-)

On Sunday, 30 students have been selected ;-) and invited for Tuesday’s LC Day in KPMG.
I hope we made a good choice and would like to thank all the people, who participated for their perfect performance!

EuroCo 2006

Hello everybody,

I’m sending warm greeting from the international conference EuroCo 2006! To describe the conference in one word: AMAZING!

I have a chance to interact with 2 chairs from AIESEC International (Jarda and Mairi), 10 facilitators (current MCPs) and 155 presidents from growth networks WENA (West Europe & North America) and CEE (Central & Eastern Europe).

I do my best to represent AIESEC Praha – sharing good case practices, building networks, negotiating future cooperation, giving & receiving massages and even more:)

The conference is held in one of the most beautiful sites that I have ever seen. Just have a look at the pictures…

Take Care,
Ondra

PS. I'm looking forward to being with you back in Prague soon…

LTC flashback

Heya,

do you know what happend 13.-15.10.2006 in Sec?

Yes, exactly, your answer is right - LTC 2006

But what it really meant...

* 2 agendas
* 2 wild parties
* 3 months of preparation
* 25 facilitators from 4 countries
* 26 sessions altogether
* 90 delegates

I was surprised to see our newies how friendly and open they were. It gave us a lot of motivation and new energy.

What actually happend there? On Friday we went through outdoor games, traditional Oscar awards (nobody will forget Jirka starring as an alarm clock:-) and wild Pyjamas party. Do you still remember how sexy delegates were in their pyjamas?;.-)

Saturday was mainly a day of getting to know AIESEC and developing our skills. Newies got to know AIESEC deeper and discover more about Exchange process. I think that Ondra did very good job playing the secretary during the simulation. Wasn't he seductive?:-)
Saturday evening was in the name of alumni rotation and learning circles hold by our two trainees. For sure, newies will remember the moment when they underwent thrilling adventure during Night game delivered by the outdoor team. And at the end? Party, of course!!! To provide newies with proper induction about AIESEC, we couldn't forget Topalky... Paja, Fabos, Radim, Miris and Vojta proved how fast Prague All star team could be. Do you wanna training? Don't hesitate to aproach them.

On Sunday, newies started working with their teams and creating their plans. Oldies got the chance to talk about their future and to set up their personal goals.

To sum it up, it was amazing experience for me. Being in a role of conference manager and facilitator at the same time, was very demanding and didn't let me sleep a lot, but it was worth to do that!!! For me, it was one of the most powerful moments that I have experienced in AIESEC so far.

My special thanks go to:
Matthias - for bringing a lot of inspiration to this conference
EB team - for their performance before and during LTC
Andrea and her OC team - for their hard work and optimism all the time
Hanka and her team of facilitators - for all the fun and mainly for the development of outdoor games.

So my last question...Are you ready to sail?

Thank you,
Petra
