Stodolni tour 2006

Each year AIESEC Ostrava organises a big party event called
Stodolni tour.
This year AIESEC Praha members together with Praha trainees could not have missed it, so we
travelled 5 hrs through the whole country on Saturday morning.

In the
train travelling in 13 people was just the beginning.
In Ostrava we ate in
Asian restaurant and went for sightseeing in the dark aftrenoon and "were supposed to see" :-) the factories from the tram.

We reached Stodolni street and met other
100 participants of the event. As there was Board of Presidents happening that weekend, MC and LCPs joined us, too. Having dinner, seeing travesti show (Jarda Skyba actively-unwillingly participating), going for treasure-drinking hunt, we went finally to the clubs there.

As you can choose from
60 pubs/clubs in Stodolni, people spread in few minutes, and later on most of us met in E 99 club. Dancing, partying, dancing - what more to describe...? :-))

As
Prague party delegates - the biggest party group there :-), had to leave at 4 am on Sunday, we travelled during early morning and slept all the journey back in the train. Arriving at 8:30 am in Prague, happily and tired went to our homes.
Although some "shit happens" appeared (notebooks stolen during the night from the hostel where BoP guys slept, someone was taken to the hospital, etc.), Stodolni tour 2006 was fabulous as a party time and OC who prepared it should receive a big "thank you"!

Jordan - different as well as simmilar

Hey my home AIESEC Praha :) Yes, I miss you guys, but I am soooo happy to be here on thesame hand....
Since I arrived here to Jordan I have came threw many many things / nice mostly! Jordan is very interesting country. The population itself is comming from the countries Jordan is bordering with. That is why they are different, but on the other way islam is connecting all of them. The conference Ready, Set, Go! is the name of the first conference of AIESEC Expansion to Jordan. The new generation of people decided to join the biggest students run organization in the world. Man, they are awsome dudes!!! I came here as a facilitator and working in a faci team with former MC Moni, Ondro, currently at AI and other great people.
Today is the first day of the conference. Arrived 60 people / 50% boys 50% girls. For me especially it is different, that girls are wearing different things, are valed. But on the other hand, they see the importance of the common thing that bond us together - whathever religion we belong to, whatever we wear... they have simmilar point of view as I do, when we were sharing things at the dinner. For me it is really big learning, my eyes are opened for 101%, I try to talk also with externals, that were invited for the conference. I talked to the Chief officer of Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, which was very interesting. I am glad to be here, indeed. The delegates are getting excited, so do I :)

Greetings to all of you, guys!
Ahlan!

AIESEC Praha gathering at MC office

Just a regular Wednesday in Prague.
Routine working day at Czech MC ;-)

Not so common thing to visit MC office in 20 people, and unexpected.

After learning activity in The Czech National Bank (CNB), AIESEC Praha members decided to visit the MC office which is situated near to CNB.
You can imagine how Evca, Majka, Mena, Nina, Fabosh and Starosta were surprised and shocked what to do with twenty new-comers.

We may still wonder, when MC will finally hire some office-girl to be able to serve visitors there . . .

NaLDS 2006 by Zdeněk

NaLDS. National Leadership Development Seminar.
Germany, St. Andreasberg, 6. - 12.11. 2006

What did I expect from NaLDS? Honestly, I did not expect a lot. I have this problem of mine, that sometimes I expect a lot when I should not expect anything and then do not expect anything when there is no reason why not to expect. And NaLDS for me was the second case. Writing my application, with which majority of delegates probably spent an evening I did not spend a lot of time at all. Well, surprisingly I made an exception and managed to persuade myself to read it after myself one more time what I have never done before with some other application. “Everybody says NaLDS is great, so I should probably at least read it after myself”, I thought.

I really did hear a lot about NaLDS. But after a few conferences that were claimed to be absolutely great, but did not really fulfill my expectations concerning professional development benefits, I have expected very little and felt that I have done enough taking my almost an hour to do the application. However, I was so wrong, as it happens from time to time :-)

NaLDS for me was the most influencing moment in my AIESEC career, maybe in my life so far. Never before did I think so deeply about my values, never before did I consider how much my behavior actually corresponds with what I believe in, deeply inside. Never before did I think so deeply about what may other people think about me and how I may be perceived because of how I behave. Never before did I question myself and had been questioned by others about deep issues of my complicated personality. Never before NaLDS did I have the feeling, that I really want to change my behavior towards the world and people around me. Never before did I decide to challenge myself not only in my professional life, but in my personal life as well. Never before did I realize, that I am not at all living the values that I truly believe in. Never before did I ask myself, why in the hell do I feel some way and act some other way, just because I am unsure about what the others will think or simply I am afraid of their reaction. Actually never before did I deeply think about my values at all, putting them on paper and thinking about them, discussing them with all the amazing people at the conference. Never before did I think about my vision concerning my PERSONAL and professional life.

NaLDS for me was quite a depressing, intensive and exhausting experience. Of course, nobody wants to find him/herself being wrong. Nobody wants to find out, that there are certain things, that he/she did not really think about and maybe if he/she did, life may have been much easier or at least less complicated. Nobody wants to really acknowledge his weaknesses and faults. It does take some character and personality to be able to do so. That is why it is so hard and unfortunately not too common among “common” people, in my opinion.

So what did I get out of NaLDS? Inspiration. Inspiration for so many things. Inspiration, that I believe will play a very important role in my whole life. It is quite hard to be concrete and try to explain in detail what is NaLDS about. NaLDS means different things to different people. We all are different, that is why we have different thoughts, different problems, frustrations, strongs and weaknesses. That is why being a human is so beautiful and so complicated. If you ever get a chance to go to NaLDS, do it. Do your best to get there. It is worth it. Maybe you will then agree with me, or maybe you will not. And if not, I guarantee, that it will be an awesome experience anyway.

“You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew. Seek, therefore, not to find out who you are, seek to determine who you want to be.” Unknown

FEEL 2006 in Slovakia 2.-5.11.

On Wednesday 1.11.2006 17 newies and 25 outgoing members from our LC gathered in front of Vodafone stall in Hlavni nadrazi in Prague to become part of the biggest delegation on the biggest Czech-Slovak conference in 2006 - FEEL, taking place in Slanicka Osada situated in the North-western part of Slovakia.

Yes, the conference was really big, mainly because of two separate, but very intense agendas: All the delegates experienced "Introduction to AIESEC" and even more! The newies from all Czech and Slovak LCs went through the core-work simulation, and the outgoing members enjoyed their preparation for traineeship (e.g. culture stuff).

Each activity was carried out in homegroups (fictive LCs) lead by international facis, most of whom were valuable sources of inspiration, not only for our freshmen. The same applies for international guest Marcus Orlovsky or giant chair Jason. Cool guys...

Real LCs get together only in the evenings to evaluate the day on LC meeting. Although LC Praha had to split up again into newies and SNs, it was a challenging task to find a sufficient room.

As you can see in pictures above, Ondra (chief delegate of newies) started the party a little bit earlier, whereas I managed to persuade SNs to dress up a bit and make a common picture... may be generational differences;)

Don't worry, we didn't miss any party... on the last picture (taken during Topalky competition), you can see 11 faces, out of which 4 are our SNs, 3 our newies and 1 LCP:)

Praha is hot to go!

My Україна

Hi Praha,

time goes by and so far no post about my unique travel to
Ukraine. Let me describe what has changed somehow my life and some points of view on the world.

Anna Volkova, project manager of World Without Borders 2006, invited me end September to Kiev to be
chair at Opening Conference of this project. Man, booking tickets, re-arranging plans and starting looking forward to going to part of the world that was my desire!!!
I spent in Ukraine
7 colossal days, some days sightseeing in Kiev, visiting Anna's family, eating traditional meals. And then chairing for 3 days...

Concerning the conference, the facts:
-
20 delegates (interns for WWB project - Singapore/Mauritius, Armenia, Brazil, Egypt, Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine) - just one girl as intern
-
lovely site (2 rooms, one plenary room, dining room - everything shared, meaning everyone was in a close contact with everybody -> let's call it unique teambuilding ;-) )
- country presentation & Global village (delegates were for example
performing the shape of Mauritius when Jovin was explaining where it was good to go to beach)
-
warm breakfast every single day (yes, they cook for breakfast: chicken, rice, soup, potatoes, etc.)
-
chairing, you love all challenges: being time keeper, uff.., waking people up after GV with "Beautiful morning" (Ace of Base) song, thinking of punishments when you know some people might find them too nasty because of their religion, making delegates think about their comfort zone, standing in front of 7 different nations as Czech ambassador, preparing great closing speech and giving them message for upcoming 2 months...
I LOVED IT!!!!

Anything more I took from that conference? Definitly yes:
I want to go for intership as well... This moment-saying bye to all delegates at metro station when I knew they were about to stay 2 more months in Ukraine in different cities... Me heading home... No, I want to live this "eXPerience like no other" as well!!! Anywhere in the world. And you can bet that I will do so ;-)

My last comment to each of you: do you remember one LC meeting about all the experiences that AIESECers had during summer? And you feel like you are still missing something?! Just two words:
GO INTERNATIONAL!
